Always wished S&W would make a run of 5" barreled stainless classics in 41 Magnum... The 629 Classic .44 just looks "classic".

Have you seen the 657 Classic Hunter? Full underlug barrel, unfluted cylinder, 6" barrel (if memory serves).

I always found it funny that S&W called the full underlug guns "Classics" when their old, classic guns didn't have them.

I never understood why S&W didn't make more 5" 29's. Real, blued, square butt, pinned and recessed Classics.
Imagine a corporate oligarchy so effective, so advanced and fine tuned that its citizens still call it a democracy.

I had the M657 unfluted cylinder 7.5” Hunter (and like a dumb@$$ I sold it) ... never cared much for the 6.5”...
The 5” guns seem a great balance for practical holster use in the field

Agree on the 5 inch barrel. A couple of 5 inchers.
Conduct is the best proof of character.

Not opposed to the 6.5, I like it. But 4 is too short and 8.3/8ths is too long. 5” is jusssssst right. Perfect configuration for caliber to frame to brand.

Skeeter Skelton knew what he was doing when he recommended 5" barreled S & W's, I've had M/27's & M/29's in that barrel length and they were my favorites.

5" Model 29s are favorite of mine:

I've got a 5" 629 Hunter that S&W gave to me to replace the 624 that was stolen out of UPS in Chicago during the return from being engraved.
I've never cared for it, so I bought another 6.5" 624 and had Ahlman's in Morristown, MN, trim the barrel back to 5". I didn't send it to S&W to be engraved, since one painful go around with them was enough to incent me to stop buying new firearms from them.
