I was just helping a guy with a mixmaster Win 70 and in comparing parts he had a 3.67" long follower in a 264 Magazine box. That follower was not a Winchester part and looked a heck of a lot like an M1903 Springfield follower other than the length. I don't have a 1917 Enfield handy to compare it with. Any ideas as to what it could be?

Now for my question. In the comparison of parts, my 1959 375 H&H model 70 has a Magnum follower but it is the same length as my 1956 Win 70 Fwt 30-06. Did Winchester or someone through the years put a 264/338/300 Win Mag follower in this gun, or are the H&H length followers the same length? It seems to me they were longer. This follower has not been altered / shortened. The gun has always fed flawlessly. I don't think they addressed Follower length in the Rifleman's Rifle, or at least I could not find it. I am thinking being a later gun, 1959, that the factory may have goofed, but some owner may have got it crossed up through years.

Page 106 in Rule's book.. Pics and descriptions.. In the pre-64s, the .264 and HH rounds all had the same length, but slightly different design.. It was the post-64s when Win went to shorter mag boxes for rounds like the '06, and even the .264s... And those followers were shorter than the pre-64s..

Thanks. The pictures do show them all the same length. I have the correct one as it appears the H&H had a deeper cut out. Thank you very much.

Any idea as to what that other non Winchester one is? I will add a pic, not mine but the owner's.

ETA: It is an M1903 Springfield Follower. The reading of the caliper in the pic shows 3.367" not 3.67" as he told me! LOL
