There are way too many people driving big trucks that have no business driving big trucks.
Yep. Nowadays in a Truck stop, you see Wetbacks and Dothead Indians driving Big Rigs. You wonder how they ever passed the CDL Test. Half of them don’t even speak English.
"Allways speak the truth and you will never have to remember what you said before..." Sam Houston Texans, "We say Grace, We Say Mam, If You Don't Like it, We Don't Give a Damn!"
When I was driving the Big Rig, about once every hour I would see somebody doing something really stupid. I 10 Texas, speed limit 70, a car in the left lane doing 55. As I passed them in the right lane, I saw they were texting on the Iphone.
Somebody ahead swerving 3 feet across the lane divider. I could look in the window and see they were texting. It is easy to look into a car from up high in the big rig, and it is difficult to look into the big rig from a car..
Then, yes the next guy getting stupid I could see he was holding a 25 ounce Budweiser. But for every driving dumb ass I saw who I could tell was drunk, I saw 10 who were texting. The texting driver is just as dangerous as the drunk. And 8 out of 10 texting drivers were female, between age of 20 and 45. These young females don't need a holster for their Iphone, they never let it out of their hand.
A couple of states had (have?) ride along programs where a cop will ride in the jump seat of a commercial truck, for the exact reason that it’s easy to look into a car. They are limited, because of the number of chase cars it takes to make the stops. The cop in the spotter truck can keep six or seven patrol cars hopping. Like shooting fish in a barrel.

What a great use of resources.

You say send it. I don’t need to look at the fuggin screen. If it sends a fuqked up message, too bad. They’ll figure it out or call me. I don’t have time to read texts while driving. They’re not that damn important. If they are, they can call me.
You don't have time to text while driving but you use Siri to send texts while driving?
I said there was no excuse when you could use Siri instead. But every one knows you just post here just to argue and up your post count.
But please be careful while texting, drinking and driving on your little man bun scooter on your next beer run. Which is probably in about 5 minutes. 😜
arguing and upping post count is what I do, BOOMER

30 years sgo we had a Qualcomm unit, no cellphone.
I drove a lot of miles reading that thing.
Following directions, looking at dispatches, looking a communications from my boss, typing in my responses.
Closest it ever came to a wreck, I was talking to another driver on the radio while we were looking for a customer in the dark. Turned into a side road and dropped the keypad through the spokes of my steering wheel.
In the middle of the turn!
The damn cord tied the wheel and I couldn't straighten it. Kinda sporty for a few seconds.
Not my brightest moment.
Gotta laugh at the trucker hate though. Probably 10 deaths by texting in cars to every wreck in a truck. But trucks are targeted.
Never understood the focus on trucks. Size does lead to potential. Which was realized in this accident. But mostly, it's only a vehicle or 2. A Prius is statistically close to as dangerous.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!
I figure the guy if convicted should get one year to the day from conviction for manslaughter for his appeal to be complete. No delays of any kind. If the judge lets it go more than one day over a year he has to do the time with the convicted killer. If the killer loses the appeal he gets hung on the courthouse steps at high noon the following day. No 20 years on death row. As a retired policeman told me once, everyone should have one lawyer tag a year. Be Well, RZ.
