Does anyone have a left hand Forbes in 270? If so how do you like it and did you send it to Melvin to get it sorted. Thanks for any insight.

At about a third or less of the price of a NULA, they are a great way to "test the concept" so to speak. If you like the fit and balance and it is accurate enough, just send it to Melvin for a checkup (worth whatever it costs) and you are good to go. The down side is there is no factory support or warranty and Melvin may not be available forever to service these (at your expense, of course). Talley one piece rings and a P rail are available, but you aren't gonna find them at your local gun store. So would I buy another one? Hell yes. My only regret is that I didn't buy a 20B as well when they were available. I haven't sent mine to Melvin yet but probably should. Nothing wrong with mine but it would up the confidence factor some. Although purely subjective, the fit, balance, and weight are perfect for me. Good luck with your choice. Steve

Thanks Steve, great point on the test of concept. I have a tikka t3 light that I hunt with as it is so much lighter than my model 70s. That shoots great but thought the Forbes would be a good complement to that.

If you want a LW balanced rifle that shoots like a target rifle, and shoots different bullet weights to the same place I think it is.
Have a LH Forbes 7-08 it shoots so good probably not going to be sent to Melvin.

If you can find one get it. The only negative I have is the Parkerising is not as durable as a Blued finish, but is more corrosion resistant when oiled. I sent a Colt Light rifle to Melvin but haven't felt the need with the Forbes unless it is just to get his blessing on it.

I took the leap and now have a Forbes 24b 270 on the way. Mace sports had one left so thanks to those who shared insights. Hopefully it’s a good one, if not Mr Forbes will get a call
Any one have thoughts or recommendations on breaking the bore in appropriately? Not stainless so I’ll get some oil on the Parkerized finish and start working the action. Thanks again

I have a very late production Forbes .280AI. It feeds, ejects and shoots just about everything into 3/4" or less. The stock manages recoil better than anything I have ever shot. I am happy and see no real need to send it back to Melvin, I can paint stocks as well as he does.
Imagine a corporate oligarchy so effective, so advanced and fine tuned that its citizens still call it a democracy.

Love my Forbes 20b .308 rifle, it flat out gets the job done. Accurate as hell and light as a feather. I took the leap and now have a Forbes 24b 270 on the way. Mace sports had one left so thanks to those who shared insights. Hopefully it’s a good one, if not Mr Forbes will get a call

Congrats, you'll enjoy it. My action was a bit clunky upon receipt, but I oiled it up and cycled it about 50 times a day over a week. It smoothed right up.
