As you know, these have been hard to find. On GUNBROKER, Reeds Sports from Walker, MN. just had four come in @ $1899. Part #3000797 - they have the ad listed as Kimber Mountain Ascent Open Country which is a little confusing. I bought another one. No CC and $20 shipping. Yes not cheap but what can you do? I have no financial interest in advertising for them. Good luck.

Open Country I believe refers to the camo pattern

Yes, not cheap but still a lot of ultra light rifle for the money. RJ

Kimber has a camo pattern called Open Country and a rifle they call Open Range, so easy to confuse the two. The Open Range has a heavier barrel and in the short action weighs 6 lb 15 oz. The short action Mountain Ascent weighs 4 lb 13 oz.

Well I spoke to a Kimber rep located in Troy, AL. to confirm - the Open Range pre-dated the Open Country and had a different camo pattern. The present pattern found on Mountain Ascents and the Open Country is called "Optifade".
The original version of the Mountain Ascent did not have a skeletinized bolt like they do now.
The current Adirondacks have a camo pattern called "Optifade Elevated II". Anyway as VaHillbilly said - its good to see them getting back onto dealers shelves -even with a significant price increase.

When you get your rifle, I’m interested to see what the roll marks are on the barrel. So far the only rifles which had the new Alabama roll mark were the Classic Special Edition 6.5 Creed rifles which were released for a short time, and very few Hunters. Kimber had appeared to cease production for a long while, and there really hasn’t been much info confirming that they have resumed. It would be nice to see a new MA with the Alabama roll mark, and not just new old stock being sold. Please let us know when you have it in hand.

Thanks,
Craig
