Stopped at a friend of mines gun shop a couple days ago, and couldnt leave empty handed! i eyeballed this one quite a bit, and it finally convinced me to bring it home. Anschutz-savage model 1415-16 22 rifle with a 3x9 Burris scope, has a early serial number which is easy to remember 4570!
should work well on the grey squirrels getting into my buildings !!!
I also picked up a couple of clunkey savages a 340D in 222 and a stevens 840 in 30-30 for a few projects, actually i had a bunch of 222 ammo and no 222 rifle.

Steve, I agree this little rifle is a beauty, even if its not a real"SAVAGE" !! besides with the recent gun bidding its the only thing in my price range.

Pardon me, Don. I am not feeling very nice lately. I go back to work on Monday. 76 and working unlimited OT. Just have to be ready at the drop of a hat to head home if Nan needs me.

Other way around, I believe. Made by Anschultz, sold in USA by Savage.
I had not seen Don's model number in catalog before. My 54 Sporter is made by Anschutz, sold by Savage in the states (It is the same as the model 1422 that Anschtuz sold across the pond at that time). Curious on how Don's barrel is marked. Mine is marked Savage-Anshutz.
The barrel is marked anschutz- savage and its a bolt action with the bolt partly open. It is a confusing model from what i have been reading on it. I still haven't figured out what year it is. I figured Gene or steve99 would know all about these. In reading more on this it appears the complete rifle was made by savage, and marketed in Germany by anschutz Don
Loggah, I am not familiar with anything this new, I did try to find it in some of my literature but the newest parts catalog I have is late 70's and only goes to the Anscultz 1413 and all the Anscultz bolt actions listed have the bolt located farther back nearer the trigger. It does look like the Savage Model's 34 & 65 which both have the same action. That action seems to be a step backwards for bolt actions as it has an internal hammer instead of a striker. It also appears the bolt does not protrude out the rear of the action when opened?
Nice. If a guy wanted to own an Anchutz and stay within the universe of Savage than this is the perfect solution. Plus its a damn nice little 22. Congratulations!
