I just placed an order for a CZ 457 American. Been wanting a bolt 22 for awhile now, I’ve never owned one. Semi auto, levers and pumps but no bolts. I read and watched probably 50 different reviews on the 457 and for the most part fine accurate rifles. Thinking about going with this Vortex scope. Any opinions on any other scopes would be appreciated. https://vortexoptics.com/vortex-crossfire-ii-2-7x32-rimfire-vplex-moa-riflescope.htmlRings and mount advice needed too.

The rings will have to be 11mm, but due to the new action, you can use just about any scope you want to use (I'd recommend something with A/O, personally). Some like a rail, but I just clamp the rings to the action and run with 'em.
I don't own a 457, but I've got ten other CZ rimfire rifles. I haven't found them so awful fussy about scoping, some folks make it harder than it needs to be.

Thanks for your response ratsmacker. Scope wise I’m looking for something with fine cross hairs. I found another vortex, next up from the crossfire. https://vortexoptics.com/vortex-diamondback-2-7x35-rimfire-vplex-moa-riflescope.htmlI’ve never owned any vortex scopes but they seem to get good reviews. And it’s not like it’ll get battered around.

I bought a picatinny rail from DIP that slips over the 11mm rail. Just shy of 50 dollars, including shipping, but well worth it to me.

I’m asking because I don’t know. But what would be the purpose of adding the rail instead of just putting 11mm rings on it? Just to be able to use standard rings? Because I’ve found cheap rings for under $15 and good rings in the $50 range.

I own several 455’s and several 457’s. Heck I got several 452’s. I love the cz rimfire rifles. The 457 rifles are nice. The triggers are fully adjustable and be adjusted very easily to be as nice and crisp as you prefer. There are videos on YouTube from cz how to adjust the trigger. Scope mounting is just personal preference on whether you want to mount the scope on the 11mm rail or on a DIP rail. I have them mounted both ways. I like both of them. I think you will like your new purchase.

Because I’ve found cheap rings for under $15 and good rings in the $50 range. I don't see the point in putting a rail on, it is just one more thing to possibly have an issue with, and what is the point of it anyway unless you want to use multiple optics without too much readjusting. I have a couple of rimfire rifles with the 11mm rail and I use the Weaver rimfire rings that clamp directly to the dovetail and have never had an issue with a scope moving, and another plus to using the dovetail is that it give lots of latitude for easily adjusting the eye relief by simply loosening the clamp rings and sliding the scope forward or aft as needed. These are your huckleberry $7.97 and they work just fine - https://www.walmart.com/ip/Weaver-A...pe-Ring-for-1-Tube-2-Pack-44910/16879806drover

The other downside to using a rail is that it is often necessary to adding a cheekpiece or having to put up with poor cheekweld because of the additional height added by the rail. But rails are the in thing right now regardless of whether they are needed or not and in spite of their downsides.
