Yes I'm 78. I remember one of my classmates in about the 8th grade dying on the operating table, getting her tonsils out. Never thought it was a good idea after that. --- Mel

Interesting. Why were they removed? Why were wisdom teeth removed? Why were we circumcised? Why is the the rum all gone? LOL.. Why does the sun go on shining? Why does the sea rush to shore?

I was about 6 years old and as I exited the school bus at home I saw our veterinarian, Dr. Parker was in our barn lot.
They had a young stallion sedated and tied up on the ground for a castration. I asked "Whatcha doin', Doc?"
Doc replied, "I'm taking out his tonsils!" as he threw the colts testicles over his shoulder.
Fast forward a few weeks, I've got a bad sore throat. My folks take me to the family doctor.
They didn't understand why I was so hostile about the idea of having my tonsils removed!
BTW I still have 'em!
Which? Tonsils or - ? 68 - still got what the dear Lord gave me, with the exception of 3 front teeth a steer kicked out. He WAS a stag when we took him down - he objected to the procedure And a 4th that got so deep a cavity, it couldn't be saved.

No. I'm 65. They left when I was 6. I remember they used ether for anesthetic.

Do you still have your tonsils? Mine were "removed" 78 years ago - adenoids as well. Have wished they were not.

Interesting. Why were they removed? Why were wisdom teeth removed? Why were we circumcised? Why is the the rum all gone? My wisdom teeth were very soft and prone to multiple cavities. They were crowding and pushing all of my other teeth out of position. Only one sensible solution. Circumcision solves many issues the uncircumcised never know they have. One, my uncircumcised younger brother at about six years of age had the foreskin grow to the top of the glans of his penis and become fused. OUCH! Not to mention "fromunda". And higher incidence of cancer among women married to uncircumcised men. Don't know nothin' 'bout rum, 'cept it tastes nasty.

I,m 61, my younger brother, sister and myself had them removed the same day, I think I was 8 at the time. Had four wisdom teeth removed in my late teens, and another wisdom tooth removed a few years ago, I asked why an extra, Doc said it happens often?

Mama said she brought her tonsils home in a jar. Lol
Guess you could do that in the 1960s. Grandmother was also the director of nursing at the same hospital too.
Bitch neegrahs at my dentist office wouldnt even let me have my wisdom tooth I had pulled about 6 years ago.
