I have always wanted a factory cutts gun just because they are different. Love model 12's and have had many over the years but I have never seen a factory cutts gun in person. Well I do not go to gun shows anymore so I just went ahead and found one online. Now I have to be patient and wait for Fed-ex to deliver it... Pretty nice skeet gun with upgraded wood... been shot some but not much from what I can tell... Pad added but that does not bother me. No choke marking on the barrel and a forged lug on the barrel. Just needed to tell someone........ while waiting........

Well congratulations. A good friend of mine was a bit of a hustler and a 20 gauge Model 12 and I believe it was a 20 gauge model 31 Rem. Both with Cutts made a good bit of money with them on the skeet field.

That is indeed a rare find. The only other factory Cutts I’ve seen in 35 years of collecting Model 12’s was Kornbrath engraved with “A” carved wood. You clearly know what you’re looking for. Congrats on your find!

I have collected and studied the model 12 for over 40 years. I haunt gun shows looking for good honest 12's. I cant tell you how many "factory ventilated ribs, factory recoil pads, and factory Cutts chokes" that aren't factory that I have seen. Everybody selling one swears it came from the factory that way. In my decades of looking I have never seen a true factory model 12 with a Cutts. Yours sounds like and has the necessary criteria to be factory. Congratulations dude.

I've seen 12s and 42s with them. Uncommon to rare. The most intriguing M-42 versions don't have a factory Cutts at all. These are a select group of 2nd type VR guns, 28", with a WS-1 hand-stamp.
Am aware of about 4 of them. All round post VR, all SN 143k-146k. May be a few more. They derive from non-stamped barrels originally intended for Cutts guns later disposed of as VR skeet guns. They are the only credible factory built exceptions to the choke stamp nomenclature (skeet - .40 vs WS-1 - 12, 16, 20) I'm aware of.
