Yes, it happened. Too bad the German women had to pay the price for the arrogant German soldiers behavior.

A tragedy of history, in my opinion: If Hitler had made peace with the British and left the Jews alone, he could have conquered Russia. Then the great question would have been what would have happened as to Japan? Would Japan have moved against British interests in the Pacific, including Australia, or concentrated on China? Would Germany have convinced Japan to move against Russia as well? The Russians sure expected them to for quite some time. The war was almost over when the Russians declared war on Japan, well after Germany was defeated. This, in my opinion, was just to claim a share of the spoils of the American and British defeat of the Japs.

One glaring fact that is ignored by most all is the fact that in 1939 when Germany invaded Poland from the west, the Russians, then allied with Germany, invaded the same time from the east. That fact, for the most part, is ignored. Then, the Russians mass executed the Polish military officer corps. Maybe I have the wrong impression, but from what I have found about this I get the impression that far more German officers were repulsed by this Russian atrocity than anyone else.

The Soviets rape, pillage, and plunder, and somehow it's all Hitler's fault. Holy crap.

Pretty sure that after the SS playing their games in the soviet sphere all bets were off.

The Germans and the Russians hated each other, and both sides committed atrocities. But, the atrocities by the rank and file type soldiers were committed by the Russians on a much larger scale. The average Russian soldier was normally a peasant with the IQ only a notch or so above a snail, with animal like instincts. Raping, pillaging, and killing came natural to them.

Heathens. A Godless culture.

The Russians certainly appear smart enough today, even given their form of Godlessness appears somewhat different from our own.

The Soviets were raping and murdering Poles and Ukrainians long before any SS solider set foot Russia. Bolsheviks are animals, Portland is a perfect example.

Read Anthony Beevor's "The Fall of Berlin." They raped and pillaged Russia, and knew that the opposite was coming when they started losing.

The Soviet conduct also was beyond despicable. For example, with Stalin's blessing, they systematically gang-raped every woman in eastern Germany on a daily basis. But, they didn't limit that to German women. They routinely gang-raped the Russian women they liberated from the forced-labor camps the Germans put them in. That was their Soviet punishment for having "surrendered."

On both sides in the Eastern Front, this all was different than expected occasional excesses by civilized armies. The Brits and Americans had some soldiers commit occasional atrocities like that, but not on the scale or with the government approval, like the Soviets and Nazis did.
