I think True Grit. Big Jake is also awesome. As are a number of them. John Wayne is awesome

The Shootist is real good too, except for the boring buggy ride with Lauren Bacall

Of course, Stagecoach 39 was his breakout film.

Even in a bit part in How the West was won, as William Tecumseh Sherman.

For westerns, McClintock is my favorite, but Donovan's Reef, with Lee Marvin, takes the prize.

I think Big Jake but maybe the Shootist. I liked them all. All of them from 1970 on saw at the picture-show first.

I enjoy every movie he played in but I have to say I have probably seen McLintock more than most of them. Hard to pick a favorite.

This is tough. The Searchers, El Darado, then Red River.

Over the mountains of the moon
through the valley of the shadow
ride boldly ride....

Eldorado is my fave, then Big Jake and True Grit. Lots of good ones. The Shootist is actually a very good movie but its hard for me to watch.
