The increasing polarisation of politics in the US is entrenching each side in their place with limited room in the middle for anyone to have views that aren't in the extreme one way or another. Both sides seem to be participating eagerly in this idiocy and as a result there is no rational discussion able to happen - either between the two sides or between either side and anyone caught in between. There's a very distinct "if you aren't wholly on my side you are the enemy and you should be taken out back and shot" mentality in US politics.
I'm always happy when I find people who can talk about these things rationally but that's becoming more and more rare as time goes on. Politics is becoming a holy war.

I quit reading after the first sentence and he said his friend was a “moderate” democrat. No such thing. You vote democrat you’re voting against the constitution and my liberty. I don’t care who it is, they vote democrat they’re my enemy. No quarter for the communists. About 30 years ago I had some Democrat friends that I would classify as classic liberals with a live and let live attitude. You could actually have a political discussion with them and be friends. I don't know any people like that today.
Progressives are the most open minded, tolerant, and inclusive people on the planet, as long as you agree with everything they say, and do exactly as you're told.

The Democrat party has devolved into a Socialist/Marxist cabal. They managed to openly rig the election top to bottom. Pence, McConnell and the Republicans in Congress confirmed the fraud. They surrounded themselves with 10,000 troupes to protect the coronation.
We did Nothing. They got away with it. We have more problems than just Biden and the democrat criminals. We have a corrupted government too to bottom and the good old GOP is culpable. The various agencies are all corrupt. The DOJ and FBI were in on it. The CIA designed the system that stole the election.

Most of the people on this forum haven't changed their political stance in 40 years or more. We still stand for the old fashioned values that made the USA great. Our opponents, our enemies if the truth be told, are the ones who have moved further and further away from the tried and true values that actually work. Why is it incumbent upon us to move to a center that keeps moving farther to the left? There's been too much of that already. It's high time the left started moving back towards us. I'm not budging and I'm voting (for whatever that's worth anymore) for people who at least say that they won't budge either.
The biggest problem our country has is not systemic racism, it's systemic stupidity.
