Recently purchased a ridgeline with a 26” barrel 1:8 twist in 6.5-284. I was planning on loading Sierra gameking 140 or LRX 127 gr if I can get some. I have several pounds of RL 22 on hand and 100 pieces of Lapua brass. Does anyone have any recommendations? I have the Barnes book and the data from it but was just looking for some real world experience data.

52 grains of MRP puts 5 130 VLD's in less than an inch from my cooper with a 25"bbl. Definitly worth a try. I tried H4831sc and Retumbo both were more accurate. 210M are a bit more accurate than BR2 IME. Hope this helps.

Just be careful with RL22 if your close to max its pretty temp sensitive, If 22 works 23 is really stable and a better powder.

I have several 6.5's. 260 Rem, 6.5x55, 6.5x06, & 264 mag. Some 1/9 twist, some 1/8. In all of them I have struggled to get satisfactory accuracy with the 127 LRX. Have always got excellent accuracy with the 120gr TSX/TTSX. The 120gr Barnes has accounted for many elk for me over the years with no problem. if you do get the LRX & like me find accuracy elusive try the TSX/TTSX. I started with the Barnes bullets back in 1994 & the 6.5 120gr original "X" bullet.. It has been a stand out bullet for me ever silence. Never lost an elk , or even come close to loosing one.

I agree with you on the 127 LRX vs 120 TTSX in my 264 mag. The LRX is hunting acceptable but not near as accurate as the TTSX. Maybe I hadn't messed with it enough. Now my 6.5 300 shoots the LRX lights out. Not really apples to apples but both pushing well over 3K FPS.

I’ll buy the flavor of Barnes that I can find and let you guys know how the ridgeline liked them. Hard times in the reloading world right now
