There is a a small population of alligators on the Red Slough wetlands in the southeastern corner of Oklahoma, and last week they went into a hibernation-like behavior called brumation to survive.

That's a good article for a journalist.
He gives a brief rundown from his source of wildlife info. I hope that he's correct on the deer population.
I've seen a lot of the scrawny and young die in years past right after deep snow. I believe that it takes too much energy for them to keep up with feeding does and they give up exhausted.
Ticks/skeeters..... I hope it put a dent in the population at least.
Gators are amazing creatures. IMHO, they are N. America's kings of the waterways. They have my admiration and respect.
They've been known to suffer through some harsh winters. Their Heart rate and respiration slows beyond medical comprehension. The ice on a pond can freeze over and the snout stuck in position for a long time while they sleep. One of the Lord's magnificent reptiles. They would certainly be considered dinosaurs if they were extinct, just like some others found living with man.

There are FAR more than the 100 stated in the article. Little River is full of them.
