I recently picked up a Remington 600 in a 222. What would be a nice lightweight scope with a:
1” tube
40 or 50 objective
Illuminated reticle
Variable power up to 12x or 16x
Great glass
Matt finish
$700 or under in cost
I figured I'd forward this question to a few tech guys at various companies and here are the replies I received:
From Sig:"The only options we have for 1” is the whiskey3 series, which is not high end, but does meet all the other criteria."
Leupold:"Tough with 1 inch tube and illumination. The illumination comes in 30mm tubes and for the price point, I would recommend VX-3HD 3.5-10x50 Firedot twilight hunter."
BTW, we have a few
VX-3i's left in stock that may be a great option for you
Hawke:Hawke Frontier SF 3-15x44 - Mil Pro21 layer Fully Multi-Coated 5x ratio optical system
Side focus control for parallax adjustment
1″ mono-tube chassis for superior strength
Long eye relief for high recoil and magnum calibers
Glass etched reticle with red illumination
6 levels of brightness with off positions in-between
1⁄10 MRAD exposed Zero Lock 'n' Stop turrets
Zoom ring with thumb lever and locking ocular
Athlon:"I would look at the Argos HMR Line either the 2-12x42 or the 4-20x50 with the illuminated BDC Reticle"
Burris:".222 eh? Sounds like a fun old gun to take varminting for sure.
The Fullfield IV’s are available in a 3-12x42, 3-12x56, and 4-16x50mm with illuminated reticles available in all 3 sizes, but if $700 is his number, I’d suggest he go with the much better optical performance of the SignatureHD. The SignatureHD series has a 3-15x44 which sits nicely in the middle of his desired ranges, is a 1” tube, and has the option of the illuminated Ballistic Plex E3 at a glass quality darn near the Veracity."
I hope this helps. Feel free to call us to discuss this, 516-217-1000
