Looking for a lightly used 300 win mag in the $400-$500 range. May pay a little more for the right rifle. Not wanting anything that cost less than that new. Unfortunately after a long debate with my wife, she's not going to let me give up my first born child for a rifle. Even after explaining the prices right now.

Thanks! How are the Howa actions compared to say a Rem 700 or something?

Unfortunately I don't have any first hand experience with them. Shopping for a new rifle myself and have been looking at these. From what I can see they are made side by side with Weatherby vanguards in Japan. They are close to your price range, figured I'd share.
I haven't found any negative reviews on them other than some not liking the feel of the stock

I know you said .300 Win. Mag, but thought I would share this rifle posted here on the forum in case you haven't seen it and might be interested: NIB .300 Weatherby Vanguard

Nice older Rem 700 ADL in 300 WM? It would come with a nice period Leupold Vari-X IIc and a leather sling. Ammo also available. Any interest? donsm70 Rifle is spoken for.

I have a Browning xbolt stalker long range that i would consider selling. I bought it used but previous owner reported very low round count which appears to be true. It is in very good condition. I would sell for $650 shipped to lower 47 (not California) which is obviously higher than your budget but quite a bit more rifle too. Let me know if interested.

You don't hear mention on hear very much about the Thompson/Center firearms but you should check out the venture 2 in 300 win mag. 5R rifling, 3lb trigger, lifetime warranty, guaranteed moa 1" 3 shots 100yds. Thompson Center had come a long way. I love my venture in 223. And they are right at $500. Check em out https://www.tcarms.com/firearms/bolt-action-rifles/venture/venture-ii#information

I have a (October, 1996 build) 300 Win Mag 700 ADL with a replacement wood stock that I'd let go, I suppose, since now I have a 300 Weatherby which I like a lot. (The Win Mag came with a tupper-ware stock.)
It shoots this load fairly well. Nosler Partition 200 grain 9 ½ M RE26 74.1grains 0.75" 5 shots at 100 meters
Most other loads are not as good, here's a couple
Hornady 180 9 1/2M H4831sc 76 1.35(3 SHOT) 100 meters Hornady 180 9 1/2M H1000 79 1.13(3 SHOT) 100 meters
I hadn't thought about selling it and not sure of $ value.
Just a quick look on Guns International - all BDL's - the pricing starts at $799.99 and goes up. This isn't a BDL and isn't as good looking as the BDL's on Guns International...

I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

I'd trade that 300 WM for a similar condition 700 in 308 or 7-08 or I'd sell it at $650 shipped.
As far as lightly used/shot - I think I've only had this out hunting once or twice. But have had it at the range a few times.

How smooth are the action on the ventures? I handled a compass the other day and it felt like crap.
