Finally got around to testing out the BDC reticle in the SWFA Ultralight. I was shooting 77 grain SMKs at 2660 fps out of a 16" barrel AR. I placed a target out at 300 yards. Fired 5 rounds using the 300 meter BDC line. Looking through the spotter, saw nothing. Loaded up another 5 rounds and shot one round at a steel target just past mine and saw that it hit low. Shot the remaining 4 rounds using the 400 meter line. Walked down to the target as saw this group. There was one hole at the bottom edge of the target so the 300 meter BDC line had me about 9" low for that ammo.

Curious if someone knows the particular round and velocity that the BDC is set for?

I did have it dialed up all the way.

Most likely 55gr 3250fps, but you might call or email them.

Thanks. Good info in that thread. Going to test it with 62 grain fmj loads next outing. Don't currently load 55 grain fmj, and the 55 grain spitzers are loaded for a bolt action.

1st line is 198 yards
2nd line is 294 yards
3rd line is 388 yards

Not familiar with that scope but, if its 2nd focal plane, variable, you can increase your subtension values by turning the power ring down. Somebody smarter than me can calculate that mathematically, but you are obviously a helluva shot, so I'd just gather up your gear and ammo and dial your load in using the power ring at your range. Actually Zeiss uses that method on the Rapid Z system. I use it a lot with several Sightron BDC scopes, most of my loads and cartridges are not super flat whizz bang trajectories.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

In September 2020 I built this 250 Savage on a Rem 700 action, Lilja 10" twist 3g barrel, trigger tech trigger, PTG bolt, PTG recoil lug, Talley rings with bases, SWFA ultralight BCD scope.
115 gr Nos bal tip naked 2.515" 65kpsi per quick load with cfe223, 2700 fps chrono
1" (3) group at 200 yards

Opening day Oct 24, 2020 I shot this mule doe in high cold wind, holding at 100 yards on the lee side of an embankment.

The rifle weighs 8 pounds with scope, cheek rest, ammo, bipod, sling, rear bag.... thanks to the SWFA lightweight.

Best take away from the Optics talk link. " 24 Hour Vaginal Itch Campfire"

Most of the comments were on the BCD ranging, how are the optics, especially in low light conditions? If Koshkin is sold on it that is a pretty good endorsement.

After my Zeiss BDC experience, the SWFA BDC experience was heaven.
