Why are Liberals always so much more fixated upon taking from producers than they are in enabling consumers to become producers?

I mean duh... envy is a lot easier to tap into than industriousness...

Well it depends. You ever read how income tax was going to force the wealthy to pay their fair share? Middle class folks all over the U.S. were clamoring for an income tax. Guess who learned how to evade it and who had to pay it? A wealth tax would soon be on every dollar you had saved or invested and every acre you own.

Per the IRS, in 2017 the top 1% paid more than the bottom 90%. Doesn't seem very fair to me.

You think they shouldn’t? Income tax should be illegal imho, but even if they instituted it at the most equitable model as a flat percentage, the top 1% would on paper pay a higher percentage of the income taxes collected.

I think they shouldn't. There SHOULD be a maximum per annum tax liability.

Give everyone a chance to support the government they are so fond of.

Why should the richest hog that privilege?

We have enough taxes already, what we need is a government that spends less.

As an alternative to new or increasing taxes, how about making usury illegal?

Taxes tend to suppress the things they tax or force that thing into the underground / black / illegal economy.

You tax gasoline enough people reduce their driving or replace the energy source.

You add payroll taxes to businesses they reduce employees

You tax wealth you reduce wealth.

Only an individual who was ignorant of taxation, economics and human nature would support a wealth tax. Or was an individual driven by envy, jealousy and self contempt at their inability to do better for themselves.

It's a higher rate than what the U.S. pays in interest (Currently 1.25% on a 30 year treasury note).

The majority of the super rich have their wealth in stocks, which means they would have to sell to pay the confiscation. That would drive down the price of their stock and lower their overall wealth. Would E Warren then pay a refund for over confiscation?

The majority of the middle class and lower income class has their wealth in their homes which ARE taxed annually as a wealth tax
Virtually all of the lower income class, if they are home owners, pay more property tax than income tax.
Over half of the middle class still working pays more in property tax than income tax.
The majority of retired middle class pays more in property tax than income tax.
Tax policy is shrinking the middle class and expanding the lower income class.
Tax policy is a caste system by design.

The end of democracy, and the defeat of the American Revolution will occur when government falls into the hands of lending institutions and moneyed incorporations.

It should be evident to anyone watching nowadays that "tax the rich" really means tax the middle class and upper middle class. You often hear people wondering why the rich support democrats, it's because the truly rich like Bezos, Gates, Buffet, etc. get richer from all the perks and tax laws the dems write for them. If you're a plastic surgeon making $1 million a year then you're going to get your ass handed to you under the dems, all the little socialists cheer that on because they think that doctor is rich. That's not rich, Bezos is rich and he's sitting there laughing while he calls Chuck Schumer with his next request for the upcoming Senate session.

Your example of the $1M earner not being wealthy is correct.
So far the talk of a wealth tax has been on those with wealth over $50,000,000 paying an annual wealth tax of 2 cents on every dollar over that $50M. Those bove the $50M mark is roughly 143,000 people or 00.1% of total taxpayers.

The issue of a wealth tax gains support when you consider tax policy in the US is not just federal income tax but covers all tax starting with the city, the county, the state and federal. Also tax policy is used to create and maintain a caste system. Its easy to see on the city and county level with just a property tax.
Joe owns a $500k home with $1m liquid assets so his net wealth is $1,500,000 and pays an annual tax on his $500k home which is 33% of his wealth.
The surgeon owns a $2m home with $5m liquid assets, net wealth of $7,000,000, pays annual tax on the $2m home which is 29% of his wealth.
The 00.1% wealthy guy owns 2 or 3 homes worth $15m and $85m liquid assets so has a net wealth of $100m, pays an annual tax on the $15m homes which is 15% of his wealth.

Those wealthy 143,000 known as the 00.1%ers and especially the billionaires in that group always want to include all the working professionals. Its easier to hide among 1% than 00.1%

The issue of a wealth tax LOSES support when you consider the fact that it is NOT YOUR MONEY. This simple idea seems lost on leftists. Why should one feel entitled to the efforts, time or money of his more successful neighbor? Is your less prosperous neighbor welcome now to come to your home and take possession of your belongings? Of course not. Practically speaking, a "wealth tax" would simply drive more of people's wealth overseas or underground. Finally, Why does government need more funding at all? Since government spends a lot but produces no goods, shouldn't the term "government money" be replaced with "money taken from neighbors who earned it"? Something about "coveting your neighbor's ass" comes to mind, and it is to be discouraged.

So those that make money , live below their means , sacrifice to save , invest and take risk and build wealth pay a tax and those that spend every dollar they make don't pay. I don't care what the thresholds are its morally wrong. The post gives you a look into the mind set of the liberals. They think everything is community property especially your wealth. Liquid assets ??? What a crock of crap.

Remember adds on TV for US Savings Bonds.
Remember when saving was morally responsible.
Remember when our economy was based on production of goods?

Today, our economy is based on money changing hands, (so that some % may be siphoned off as taxes at every exchange)

.gov thinks that stimulus packages are good, because that money is expected to change hands enough times for them to get it all back. If one does like us and drop it into a savings account, they get none of it back.

Today, they teach that it is immoral to save money. Saved money is not taxed, is not doing anyone any good.

We must tax savings. Just ask any Leftist.

My property taxes are a wealth tax and from what I can tell, there is no stopping them from increasing it.
