Haven’t seen one in the stores around here since August.

I haven't seen any at the local grocery store for months. Always an empty space. Prices online are way up too.

Ball tin is located in Canada, I know they have nothing to do with the jars anymore but they probably still stamp out those lids.

So, it's the damn Canadians again...

Last year we bought a bunch of these reusable lids. I've had some that I've used 5 or 6 times and they still work great. TATTLER LIDS They're worth the extra money. They're cheaper in the long run and you don't have to play the shortage game every year.

The wide mouths are a bit tricky to use. You have to leave the rings loose until they come out of the hot water then screw them down tight. The wide mouth rings don't have quite enough thread to hold until they're screwed down tight and once in a while one will come off when you take it out of the water. I've never had a regular mouth one do that. It's not a big deal but it does happen on occasion. I just cook it again.

I typically would pick up a box or two if they were on sale. Great barter item. Rings are reusable soon after the jars have cooled., I'd only buy them if they are included with the lids at a reduced rate.

We had problems getting the older unused ones to seal properly. Not so the new that year ones. The plasticiser leaches out of the rubber and it gets hard over time.

Was seeing folks pushing carts full of canning jars and tops out of Walmart Neighborhood Market by me recently.

Wonder how many jars that will take?

The older ones needed to be boiled before you used them. The new ones don't. Just put them on and screw down the rings. Many people still boil them but it's a waste of time. Read the instructions. They won't say to boil them.

Where are all of the self-righteous lectures on not having the foresight to have a life-time supply squirreled away?
