It has more to do with "the force."

I happily add a little weight to my mountain scope if it gets me a illuminated dot in the center of the duplex.

As in magnification....or do you think that magnification doesn't help with shooting at longer ranges?

Energy, in part, dictates what happens after the bullet strikes, the power (magnification) is about assisting with "where" the bullet strikes.

Sounds exactly like the Leupold VX-3HD, 4.5-14x 40mm, weight 13 oz! Just mounted one on my 6.5 PRC, and think it will make the perfect scope for a lightweight mountain rig.

it sort of defeats the purpose of "lightweight"... makes the rifle top heavy...
i

i I put a 3x10 NF on my NULA .260. Gives me excellent optics and the rifle is about 6 1/4, lbs.NOT top heavy.

So the reason to put a heavy scope on a LW is rifle because you can.

Lefty.
