This shouldn't surprise anyone. Did the same thing under Obama. I remember in 2012 I got laid off, & was driving across town for half my previous pay. Gas was nearly $4.

For 95% of consumers who simply and blindly want to believe that big oil is bad/end of story, all of this will fall on deaf ears while they scream about the price of a gallon of gasoline at the corner store just before they run in to buy a "cheap'" bottle of water so that they can stay hydrated on the way to work.

And probably none of them know or want to believe that oil is bought and sold on the commodity market based on supply and demand at the well head. This increased cost at the well head for a barrel of oil paid for by the refiner is logically passed on to the consumer through higher gas prices. That happens in all forms of business, and not just in the oil business, in a capitalist society.

Nope.... Its just "big bad oil' taking advantage of them once again for no logical reason with higher gas prices. After all, we all know that we deserve cheap gas no mater what happens in the supply chain or with prices.in that supply chain..........

There will be a few who pr of it from high prices come along
and try to make the case it's good for everyone.
Or make excuses.

It's not.

Most Americans only pay for oil, increases don't give them money.

They just pay more for energy, food, everything else that goes up
with high fuel costs. Many, will receive more gross from those higher
costs, but it usually doesn't offset the increased inputs.


No different than Beef.
Guys are tickled when they get good money for their cows.
But, meat consumers have to pay for it.

I'm tickled when beef is cheap, but, that hurts the producers.


Steady, boring markets are best.
That hasn't happened over several years for a long time.

Gas got well above $4.00 during the W Bush/Cheney era.

All of this stinks of the "feel good" socialist policies of a democratic administration that too many clue-less people voted for. Its called inflation and it follows the democrats and their policies around like a lost puppy.

It was 5 here.

Plus an oil war in Iraq.


That was 20 years ago.....probably be like 7 dollars today.


They just getting by.......

And we all know president's set the price at the pump.

Not true, but their policies can and do set prices.

A example of that would be interesting, always lookin' to learn.

Just curious to learn what any United States President has ever done that raised or lowered the price of gas at the pump.

If all the oil production and related pipelines in the US were ordered to a halt it seems the Saudi's would be thrilled, not pissed off.

I have my doubts they like us being self sufficient and not OPEC dependent for our oil.

We are such little players in the world oil market we don't amount to squat.

Big oil in this country isn't going to hold prices down if OPEC skyrockets theirs, they'll follow suit.

So I guess I just don't get where a US president can or ever has effected gas prices.

It'd just be interesting to see a direct example of how that's done.

If you limit supply prices go up. If you increase demand by inflating the economy then prices go up.

Trump made it a stated point to drive oil prices down. I think he thought blue collar people wanted cheap gas which they do in theory.

He didn’t realize that the oil states (which are mainly red) fire their economies from O&G production. It funds real estate, restaurants, car dealers, grocery stores, luxury goods, mineral royalties, production jobs.

That's one of the things I'd like to see a example of, how'd he do it?

It's not just oil prices in the USA, it's global, worldwide, how did that come about?

Biden didn't win.

Biden has pissed the Saudis off over his response to the embassy killing of the reporter awhile back It has nothing to do with oil in itself, but it has an effect on market speculators.

So OPEC raised world wide oil prices for that?
