After owning 2 vipers that needed repair and vortex wouldn’t fix them, I’m done. As long as my 12 bushnell elites hold up I’m done buying scopes. What were the issues? I thought Vortex was supposed to fix/replace anything no questions asked, no matter what? Thought the same....kinda had my eye on a 3-9 Viper.

It’s really not that hard to understand, Vortex like so many optics makers these days make most of their products in China, there lower end stuff is for those that don’t know any better or expect very little from their equipment., only looking for low level pricing. However they do have certain lines made in Japan to higher standards with better components abd like with anything else, you pay more for that. The one chinese models that Vortex makes that has been improved upon is the Viper PST gen II scopes, other than that stick to Razors!
For a dedicated 2nd FP hunting scope IMO the Razor LHT is absolute perfection.
3-15 magnification 19 oz in a 30mm tube Unbelievable glass Generous eye relief and eye box Precise adjustments Capped Windage Hunter friendly reticles with illum Plenty of travel

I am still hoping the Vortex makes the AMG scope in 4x20 or 3x18 and about 2 inches shorter.

Vortex is a marketing company. They’re sell designer Chinese purses if they thought they could make more money.
That said they will give anybody with a pulse half off on optics.

I have a 1st gen PST 4x16 for the past 6 years, few thousand rounds on it of which most were on a 300wm.
It holds zero and tracks not too bad. Use this scope in several 1000 yard events, pick up a podium once in a while too.
How long will it do this before failure I do not know, but performance exceeds any Leupold I've owned.
Point of manufacture makes no difference to the quality of the piece, it is the parent company that dictates the level of quality of the parts as well as quality control of assembly.
It has been a long time that things made in Japan were a piece of crap. The Chinese will build anything you want and willing to pay for.

As long as my 12 bushnell elites hold up I’m done buying scopes. After I bought my first one 12 years ago, those were my favorite ones to buy. I acquired four of them, but they don't make them any more. I recently bought two of their FFP Forge scopes, which are similar, and I am really happy with them, but those don't show up on their website right now. I don't know if that is because they stopped making them, or they are just sold out.

So, the Razors are the only Vortex rifle scopes not made in Chiner?

So, the Razors are the only Vortex rifle scopes not made in Chiner? I don't believe that is correct.

I have the crossfire 2 scout and it’s held up well thus far to 45-70 recoil but I did have a diamondback fail but I got that one used. My viper they replaced it with has held up well on the 7mm mag it’s now on.

I owned a Vortex Razor Gen 2 that was a great scope for the money and the only reason I got rid of it was it weighed 48 ounces.

See this all the time in threads like this. "Great scope for the money"! just what does that mean?
