I am always glad to see them show up in LA/lower Alabama during hunting season, it means the rut aint long off. They were right on time again this year end of the first week of Jan then full bore by the third week.

Had them here for a couple weeks. Showed up as soon as the temps went positive. Lots of crabapple trees in my neighborhood.

If you love someone set them free
If they come back no one else liked them
Set them free again

Summer Tanager?

I Googled Redbird...

Too early for Summer Tanagers, which are migratory wasp and bee specialists, more’n likely Northern Cardinals which are resident here year round.

Yes, I have been seeing and hearing them the last couple days, they have been eating the berries off the Mountain Ash tree here in my yard. They seem happy at this time of year.

Actually saw a bunch 3 weeks ago. The next week it was -20 and a foot of snow. Think their barometer is haywire.

They stuck around here all winter. I have seen them in February during some past mild winters, but this year I saw them quite a few times all winter long. They seem to congregate around the berry trees.

Saw and heard my first sandhill cranes this morning here in Northern Michigan, followed by my first grackle.

The way the weather is here in our area, I'll bet we don't have to wait a month.

We had a resident kildeer that would start squawking about 4:45 AM. I finally had to deal with him.

They never leave here. But they haven't started singing yet.

A few got to NE WI. yesterday on the southern wind that we had. I only hope that what ever winter we have left is a mild one. A couple years back we had an early warm spell and the robins got here early, but we croaked a bunch when winter hit hard again. People were buying them meal worms in an effort to help tide them over.

They showed up after the big freeze and are still here, way more than usual.

I noticed the first robins here arrived a week ago. 👍

It’s a beautiful day here, chilly but beautiful.

Robins never leave here. Have them all over the yard all winter. Sometimes 20, 30+ on the lawn.
