The way I see it is if I have to alter a whisky a bunch to make it palatable then it isn't in the sipping category. I'll add water and ice to Old Crow if that's what is available. No problem.
Ice cubes going into good stuff, well, it's sort of like watching someone cook a prime steak to well done. Sure, it is their steak but certain things are simply crimes against nature. I certainly agree, but sometimes the spirit does not live up to the billing on my taste buds.

Quite understandable. I have a single malt on my bar that isn't really bad, but it is certainly a let down compared to the same brand/age I bought years ago. I have a feeling that when production and exposure of the brand increased their barrel management and quality regime went downhill. It wouldn't hurt my feelings to have it or serve it with spring water on the rocks.

A Gordon's martini at the moment. The mushrooms are sautéing, broccoli/cauliflower simmering and my wife is working the burgers on the grill. A really nice evening weather wise as well.
