Don't know if you call it inflation or hyperinflation.
Don't really care.
I use a speciality plywood for construction.
Knowing there was going to be a price increase I bought two pallets last month. Didn't really have the warehouse space to buy more at that time.
Decided this morning I was going to buy 10 more pallets (440 sheets)... i.e. get ahead of the curve.
Price has gone up overnight by 72%.
For those not very good with percentages... basically double the price then subtract 25% of the original price.
The company is a major supplier... with warehouses in about 10 major cities. Sales lady said ALL sheet products are getting insane.
Just an FYI.
If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.

Owner of my local yard called and said 7/16” OSB today is $32. They put in an order today and their cost will be $42/sheet, our price $47/sheet in about two weeks. I had to buy 12 units, 88 sheets each to cover what’s sold in one subdivision. $15,000 difference. He said zero chance of any price drop in sheet goods for at least 6 mos. dimensional lumber dropped some.

What's up now with the prices? The big lumber yards were considered essential and cornered a market over small business.

Son in law is a custom builder for top end homes. He has a materials escalation clause in his contracts as of last March. He shows proof to his customers and hasn’t had a single one balk at the price increases.

I've seen that, too. 500% inflation in a year. I'm not building anything right now.

And the value of peoples houses will continue to go up. If you are a seller it's good for you. If you are a buyer, you are screwed. Interestingly, when the prices are going up like this, it just get's people more eager to get their house bought.

I notify the owner within 24hours, they have 72hours to decide whether to proceed, if they choose not too, I’m paid in full within 30 days including pro-rated profit margin.
