I talked to my editor at the publishers yesterday. He told me how to handle some issues.
All I have to do is review the book, add the pics of Joe Martin's Malcolm scoped 22 HP and send the manuscript off. I promised him that I would get it out in about 10 days.
Anyone who hasn't sent me release forms need to get them to me ASAP.
He said they could have the book out early next year if I can get the manuscript to him with the next two weeks.
Just like the Marine Corps, Hurry, hurry, hurry, wait!

I'll get my "final" edits to you David in the coming days.

Still trying to locate the source for the "O'Connor" rifle pics. I'm sure I snagged them from the internet while surfing. Just not sure where??

My internet search (something I'm not very good at) didn't turn up the pics either. My editor told me to go ahead and use the pics with a disclaimer that I tried diligently to find the source of the photos and if the owner of the copyright turns up I will credit him or her for the photos in future printings or revisions.
I have over 800 photos that I'm including plus Rick's biographies of the engravers. The editor thinks it will be popular. He says they have had a lot of enquiries as to when the book will be available due to me saying I would do a book on engraved 99's in the collector's guide.

When can we order an autographed copy of your new book? I have a copy of your earlier book and really enjoy it. I've re-read portions of it several times since I got it and have passed on it's value to other Savage owners.

I don't know what the price will be yet but I am putting names on a list. For those of you who have a numbered copy of the first book I will put the same number on your copy of the new book. It will be a lot bigger than the first book and therefore more expensive. I have no idea what the price will be so if I put you on the list and it is too expensive for your tastes there is no obligation to buy it.

Ok, I've submitted the biographical information that I have gathered and distilled.
The gentlemen included in the bios are;
Conrad F. Ulrich
Enoch Tue
William H. Gough
Siegfried Rentzschke
Gustave Kirchner
William Irving King
Don't know who they are? Get the book! smile

Here is one of the last pieces of data I've received from Gough's daughter.
This doc covers Gough's Mother's side. Names, places, dates all add to the stories.
All for now. I need a break!

Good job, Rick. I've been digging into records to verify different parts of Arthur's popularly reported background, and it is exhausting work.

This timeline is believed to be accurate. It was assembled by a Savage in recent history. Could be clue(s) in it.
Places AWS in Brooklyn ~1890 when the "E.W. Bliss" rifle was built. The Bliss factory was also in Brooklyn. E.W. Bliss was also on the selection committee during the contested military trials of the Savage Rifle, Winchester, etc. Sounds like monkey business was going on alright.

Most of that plugs in with what I have, though I didn't have the dates of death of his parents. Those help explain some things.

The US immigration date is wrong, it was June 17, 1886. Entire family arrived via the SS Alene out of Kingston, Jamaica. The Savages listed California as their destination on the ship roster.
