So many folks have so many opinions about guitarists - look how quickly this thread has grown.

How true, how true - and there is no accounting for musical "taste". Due to the major plethora of guitar players and the limited exposure/knowledge of most of us, the "best" labels are almost meaningless. Is there a capable judge these days? Now - if we say "I most LIKE so and so - - -"

I never will say that DG was the "best" - or say that about any guitarist. But, I know his playing quite well and will say that, if those of you who know guitar will listen closely to the full range of Danny Gatton's playing, you are likely to discard your notions about any supreiority of a bunch of other players of this type.

I keep forgetting Steve Lukather, & while trying to think about which Toto song to look for, Duh! just type in Lukather solos.

Known for extremely fast fingers. His work is on many albums besides Toto's.

A little bit of Jimmy Hendricks goes a long way. Robin and Jimmy Dewar have many that I like, but this one popped into my feeble brain first. It's not standalone guitar, but worthy of a listen.

I'll put kotzen up against about anyone these days. And he can sing as good as he plays.

Probably Les Paul, they were a lot alike, loved tinkering with guitars

I know Eddie asked Glenn Campbell for a lesson.

Yup

And there’s always going to be 2 or 3 guys on here that pluck some obscure guitarist from the Celtic Woman tribute band, Liberace’s accompanyment or whatnot for his contribution. Leaves me shaking my head. We all have our favorites and opinions so that’s what makes it great.

lol

Yezzir. I was kinda hoping for a "Spotlight on Ed King" thread. When did he leave Skynyrd anyhow?

Very FEW musicians of today that inspire "kids" to WANT to learn guitar.

Guitar is harder with smaller audiences than going online and using the phone.

Most video games are easier than learning guitar, too.

Don't ask me about my military service or heroic acts...most of it is untrue.
