This has been an ongoing thing with Dave Ramsey/Ramsey Solutions.
"Ms. O’Connor finally had a meeting with the head of Human Resources and the board members and was informed she was being terminated due to her pregnancy and for a violation of 'company conduct,' because she is not married to her partner, the baby’s father," Collins wrote in the suit. "Ramsey contends that her committed relationship and her pregnancy are a violation of its 'righteous living' policy."
I hope she wins and her family is set for life. Ramsey delivers a good message and an easy to follow way of becoming debt free. But he is an arrogant prick.

Agreed. And im a believer, but this holier than thou BS and policies are just that..BS
If she signed off on the policy as a condition to work there then too bad so sad!
Mike
yup.
I'm not a Ramsey fan, but read the terms when you hire on and abide by them or move on.
Too many people thing themselves special and above contracts and the laws as written.
Side note, contraception these days is ridiculously cheap and easy. Don't want kids but want to whore around? Then don't. Want kids? Find the right guy and marry him. I'm not sympathetic.

This. Why would anyone think otherwise.? It's not complicated. Actually, I've read a lot of Dave's books and saw him in person once. He doesn't come across to me as arrogant at all. Oh well, you know what they say about opinions. "Everybody's got one, and mine is right and yours is poo-poo!" At least I think that's how it goes.
Are less children being born out of wedlock a good thing for society? If so what social forces can be mustered to move that direction?
Do single people with children put extra burdens on employers? Seems clearly yes to me since there is a high likelihood of your employee taking extra personal time for childcare which could be greatly reduced by sharing child activities between two parents.
I don't agree with the decision, but I guess I understand where the policy is coming from.

ETA: Thread title is BS. She was fired for getting pregnant outside of marriage, not for having sex.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ No different than any other policy you sign that you agree to. If you don't like the policy don't take the job. Simple enough.

O'Connor's attorney Heather Collins wrote in the suit the incident began when O’Connor requested FMLA paperwork for the birth of her child and requested ADA paperwork since her pregnancy is considered a geriatric pregnancy.
Give Granny a break,...hell far. She only had one egg left and it's been hiding for 20 years.
Having to nurse a kid from a tit that's strapped to her knee is enough punishment.
As unpopular as it may be ... I could see a company that has been burned by multiple single mothers who get lots of benefits and wind up calling out a lot for lack of someone to watch the kid when the father heads for the hills.
A lot like anchor baby tourism at the company level...

Television and radio are most effective when people question little and think even less.

Some conditions of employment aren't legal and some reasons for firing aren't legal. If this story is accurate and she was fired for being knocked up I hope she tears Dave's ass up financially.
Patriotism (and religion) is the last refuge of a scoundrel.
