Bush predicted a dim future for former President Donald Trump’s political career in a taped interview broadcast Thursday, saying that “these populist movements begin to fritter over time.” Bush delivered remarks in a taped interview shown at the SXSW conference in Austin, Texas, about the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, the 2020 election and the future of American democracy, USA Today reported. Although out of office and banned from Twitter, Trump appears to have maintained influence over the GOP during the early days of the Biden administration. Trump won the 2021 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) straw poll by a wide margin, earning 55% of the votes while the second-place finisher, Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, came in at 21%. A Politico/Morning Consult from February showed Trump as the overwhelming favorite to win the GOP nomination in 2024, and a Quinnipiac poll from mid-February showed that 75% of Republicans want Trump to play a prominent role in the party moving forward. Trump has been noncommittal about running for president for a third time in 2024, but has repeatedly floated the possibility and has left the door open for launching a bid. Bush added that he does not believe that the 2020 election was stolen and that he views Joe Biden as a legitimate president.

All ways to make elites money at the expense of the very people who favor the populist movement he denigrates.
He hams it up w/ the Clintons & Obamas, criticizing Trump 10x as much as he ever did them.
All of these data points represent... and have in my mind for years... his legacy.
All these recent words do is confirm what I already knew.
I hope we can prove him wrong; the war against us is stacked in the establishment’s favor by a massive margin.

A lot of folks here thought he was great, back then. Kind of like the bowhunter Paul Ryan as VP back then. As bad as he was, he was still a better choice than the Algore in 2000 and POS Kerry in 2004...and that says a lot about those two. Few have disappointed me more than Paul Ryan. I remember when as a VP candidate he gave a very Reaganesque speech, and I thought he might be a bright star on the horizon. Turned out to be an A380 jettisoning the contents of its toilets 20 miles out on the horizon. These swampers in the republican establishment just don't get it. They are NOT going to get popular support. We've seen the man behind the curtain.
