Ain’t much on identifying aircraft , but went out to shoot some a little ago and a twin engine plane few over at about 10 o’clock, about 150 ft up .
Unusually low and slow
Wasn’t OD green , but a flat gray .
No turrets in belly .
Never seen it before . So I’m thinking probably not a collector .
Pretty good size plane to be that low .
Any ideas ?
Kenneth

Let's see paint color - no help.

Time of day - same as paint color.

Twin engine - could be one of several thousand....

No turrets - kinda limits what it Isn't, but not much for what it be!

Flying low and slow - almost all of them will do that!

Now that I have all the azzhole out of me smile

Do you think that it WAS old military, jet or recip, radial or something else, tail configuration, high wing or low........

Pictures would be better...........

Sorry Ken, just need a little more!

Could you see the tires? Was the body above the wing or below it? Narrow the search down a little... grin

We get these over the house often.
Pretty low, they often bank around the ridge I live on, and I can look over into the cockpit. Can actually see the pilot holding the stick.

They don seem slow, but I know they aren't very fast flyers.

Johnw is kind of close , the cockpit seemed small and struck me as not being good for observing below nose , below cockpit seemed fat . Kind of round nosed . Definitely looked to be older .
There’s a small airport about 25 miles from here , I’m going to ride down and see if I spot it .

No cigar , the dinky little airport ain’t the little one hanger airport I remembered .
A couple of good sized hangers and a large area fenced in . I drove by twice , but didn’t see anything that resembled what I saw earlier. Place looked locked up , the couple of people I saw appeared to be calling it a day .

I thought the same thing when I lived in Warner Robins, GA and the SR-71 Blackbird flew over our house. It was about 1000 feet up and truly amazing looking.

Turns out it was being retired to the air museum at the base there.

I once had a B52 fly over me at low level in Goose Creek canyon in Southern Idaho. I was box hunting and heard a roar coming up the canyon. I couldn't believe how low it was. Tons of black smoke coming off of it too.

Used to see B-52s cross I-70 from Wright Patterson.
Think they were taking off when I usually saw them.
Never gave it a thought until I was running with a guy and
he mentioned them.

And that they don't have 4 engines.
But 4 pods, 2 engines each.

They got more of my attention after that.
Awesome examples of what America can be!

Continuing off topic...

If the first B-52 still existed, it would be almost 70 years old.

When I was at GFAFB, ND in the 80’s we flew G&H models all over the West. Some routes we would drop down well under 200’ going about 340 to 360 knots. Ran off a lot of herds of antelope Went over a small lake in N. Michigan about 80’ over treetop level just before coast out over Lake Superior. Went right over a small boat in the middle of the small lake at 360 knots. I bet they still talk about that.

C-130s are quads right?
They get turned into Fire retardant dumpers pretty frequently. But the unload cycle stresses the air frame to the point that every once in a while the wings decide to quit...

So smaller than a C-130?
Anyone ever see one reduced to a twin?
