Looking at long range scopes and was wondering if the illuminated dot will blur out or halo and be too big for 1K shooting ?

Well, cant think of a single person using dots for LR,
so, there's that.......
and why are you wanting to use an illuminated dot at 1k?
washout and size of dot at 1k just don't seem realistic.
disclaimer, i've never shot any of the above.

A 1 min. dot covers 1" at 100 yrds , and roughly 10" at 1000 yrds, you would need a big target be able to see around the red dot. Buy a good scope it will save you a lot of grief trying to shoot long range. Rio7

Ask that question in the Hunting Optics forum may have better luck.

My thought as well- just too big. Heck my 3-9 at 100 yds covers too much for anything very precise. Weaver used to make a non illuminated target dot but betting they are no longer around.

Dots are great for close in/low light work......not useful on a long range rig for reasons covered by Rio7 and others.
