I can no longer lean into the scopes of my favorite rifles and shoot without suffering excruciating pain so it is the to sell the collection.

What would my fellow campfire members recommend to sell of the whole of rifles, handguns and a lot of reloading equipment to get the best prices and not worry about being taken advantage of?

Some examples:

Marlin 357
Marlin 44
Marlin 39a golden take down
Remington 700 PSS
Tikka 25-06
Winchester 69a
Winchester 85 target
Ruger 1022
Ruger 357 revolver 4""
Ruger single six
Ruger mk .22
Detonics .45
Colt Python 357
My dad's Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 (1955) like new.

RCBS dies for all the above
RCBS chargmaster

Powder
Primers
Bullets
Hundreds of rounds of loaded brass for all the above.

I live in Western Washington and would like to keep the whole thing simple.

I'd just hate to have a local pawn shop come in and steal it all.

Really sorry to hear that. I don’t look forward to that day ...

Gunbroker for the stuff that’s desirable/collectible. You will get far more for some of the items (python, for example) if you break them out. Otw if you sell it all as one lot you won’t get near the return.

Much bigger time commitment, but might be worth it.

Local gun shop could maybe buy them?

Then resell them?

I have heard about shops buying collections.

No way would I let any pawn shop near any gun unless it's a pile of crap or on consignment to you.
The gun store you dealt with should have a consignment like deal set up. You still give up some cash
but a gun store is where people go for gun's and the gun store knows what he can get.
This site has a decent classified section, but powder & primers, loaded ammo . Maybe several different adds.

I would have got him too but a Dad Blam snow flake hit me in da eye....

I'd sell the firearms here or on Gunbroker. The reloading stuff I'd sell local.

Shipping can suck, but you're gonna still come out waaaaaay ahead on the firearms

Agree with this. My friend had to sell his collection, about half the size of the one above. He was not really educated on internet selling, FFLs, etc. I sold almost all of it here on 24HRCF for him. Took a couple months but worth it. Small amounts of primers and powder was sold locally.

Selling to a gun store will usually get you 50 to 70 percent. Consignment is generally around 15 percent. Consignment might be worth it if you really don't want to deal with it especially for the lower value guns. Selling it yourself will probably be best.
A guy from my sportsman's club rented a table at a gun show with his dad to help him downsize. He said it was fairly cheap.

There are shops that specialize in buying whole collections...
Or consignment might do well in this market...

Be carefull selling the whole lot to a shop, they often don't pay much. You'll get the best money selling individually on gunbroker, especially things like the python. Reloading stuff will do best on gunbroker too but you can't ship powder or primers. Selling the whole lot at once will save a lot of headache but not get you near as much money.

I have a friend that buys estates like that and never pays even half of what it's worth. Gunbroker is pretty easy after the first few and you don't have near as many people back out of deals.

Remington6MM: I would load them up and mosey on down to D.J.'s Loan & Sport Shop there in Bothell, Washington (taxington actually!) and have them consigned for sale there!
With the myriad of horrific new gun laws YOU have allowed to be passed in this once formerly great state, YOU better be careful in your dealings, now.
I have bought MANY guns from these folks over the decades and they have always been honest and up front with me and my friends.
I am so sorry to hear of your affliction - maybe you should be patient and try new Doctors/treatments/surgeries to see if you will improve - I hope you will.
Best of luck to you.

Thanks to all of you for your good information.

Varmint Guy, yes DJ is a good gun shop and the ole boy that runs the place definitely knows his stuff.

Start posting some prices and I suspect you'll need a whole bunch of boxes by sundown.

Any chance for a second opinion of the shoulder? Therapy or diet and exercise maybe?

Wow man I’m really sorry to hear this that’s gotta be a tough spot in which to find oneself.

I’d look at selling the stuff you know to be more desirable on GB and the rest here.

Prayers for peace as you enter another phase of life,

It's not a shoulder problem, it's a brain pain problem that gets exacerbated by leaning into a scope and having my neck turned back
It is even getting tough to do my leather working.

The VA discovered the problem after me spending a few years going to every neurologist in the Seattle area. They sent me to the University of Washington neurological department and after many tests decovered I have a very rare disorder that really has no cure but the did find that a cocktail of meds and electronic stimulus can substantially mitigate the pain. The problem with pain killers is that other problems occur with them.

Just have to make some changes thats all.
