Dont hang it up man.
Hunt your friends best spots and kill some deer.
He would probably like that.
Sorry about your friend.
Bring someone else in on your ground.
Pass the knowledge both you and your friend learned of your spots onto another hunter.

A legacy sorta thing.

Find a young devil dog and take him hunting this fall. Sorry to hear about the loss of your compadre.

Sorry about your friend and hunting partner.

Honor his memory by continuing to hunt, if you can.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your buddy, a fellow hunter and an American Hero.
Keep on doing what you love in memory of him. He'd approve.

Former Marine here too................Old, things hurt, 33 bone breaks and 4 wounds. feel like I have lost about 80% of my abilities since I was about 24 years old.
Still going up the mountains (slower now) and still killing deer, elk antelope and bears.

Don't give it up. It's not the Marine Way. Ask yourself what you old buddy would tell you to do. Live life until you can't but never say "I won't"

Semper Fidelis means ALWALS faithful. Always.
Not all Ex Marines take that with them after their discharge, but the hard core ones do. It's just who they are.
God gives us the final promotion, but keep on "keeping on" until God says "at ease".

Sorry to hear about your friend. Tough to lose a good friend. Hope you're able to continue to hunt. Maybe introduce someone to the ground you hunt and take him with you so you and your friend's tradition can continue.

What renegade 50 said....... I lost one of my childhood friends and hunting buddies a couple years ago. He was a disabled 'nam vet and got around with leg braces and a cane. He couldn't drag a deer and gutting one was very difficult for him. No problem; he had enough life long friends besides me to take care of minor details like those. Said he would hunt as long as he could and we should all do the same. When he passed unexpectedly I made a vow to hunt until I just can't hack it anymore. I miss him a lot and often think of him when I'm hunting, which is just what he wanted me to keep doing. It really is a legacy and tradition thing.

Thanks for your service.
I doubt your buddy would want you to hang up your deer rifle.
