Does a five inch off a destroyer count?
I'd rather die in a BAD gunfight than a GOOD nursing home.

The biggest I've shot with any regularity is my Sako 338 Win. mag with full house loads of 4350 under 250 grain bullets.
The nastiest was one of those light weight, hard narrow buttplate, knife edged comb with lots of drop coach guns with some sort of turkey magnum load.

Worst recoiling gun I ever fired was a friends NEF 3 1/2 inch 12 gauge turkey gun. I told him I would not shot it a second time if he gave me that gun, and 10 others just like it. It was brutal. Dang thing didn't weigh 4 pounds.

Biggest caliber, most powerful, or worst recoil? Largest caliber I have ever fired was my 50 caliber muzzle loader. Most powerful rifle cartridge was a 375 H&H mag. Worst recoiling gun is a 12 gauge Mossberg pump with a 3 1/2 inch magnum turkey load. Those 3 1/2 inch turkey loads are brutal. A 375 H&H is like shooting a 243 compared to launching 2 1/4 ounces of lead shot at 1200 fps. +1 on those 3 1/2" turkey loads - Biggest rifles I have fired are the 8mm Rem. Mag and .338 WM that I have, but the recoil on those are mild compared to the 10 ga. 3 1/2 " 2 1/2 oz loads I fired a couple of times just to see what they were like. Goose hunted with the 10 gauge pump, but never did take it turkey hunting. Not a gun/load you would want to use sitting with your back to a tree when you pulled the trigger...

2-1/2” schedule 40 potato gun I forgot all about potato guns. I made two of those. What fun, then they outlawed them! I'm a plumber. I can hook you up with all the goods to make a ghost potato gun, but you have to mill it and put it together yourself. 😀

I’ve shot a few 3 1/2” 12 gauge turkey loads, not at all bad in my Beretta automatic....smack down turkeys at quite a distance. Biggest rifle I can recall shooting is a No. 1 in .458 WM. Biggest handgun is my .500 S&W.

I shoot .50 BMG regularly, carry a Alaskan 454 in the woods. Neither are that bad of recoil.
My .44 Taurus tracker snubby is hand stinger, and the old NEF 12ga with slugs was interesting. Neither one of those is the least bit enjoyable to shoot.

Worst recoil I've experienced from a long gun and handgun, respectively, was a lightweight 12 guage with slugs and M_Stevenson's cut down Ruger Super Redhawk in .480 Ruger. Firing 5 very stout handloaded rounds through that short barreled (4"?) was quite memorable. I could feel the effects of that. 480 from my wrist to my shoulder for quite a while afterwards.

A Jeffery double rifle in 600 N.E.
The one shot cost me $128.00 and a big bottle of aspirin.
