Had fun as the Combat Systems Officer on a double ended 5 inch 54 caliber destroyer on several occasions.

Largest I ever pulled the trigger on was 40mm. OTOH, I said "Fire Mission, over" a lot. The results were inflicted by 105/155/8" and 175mm artillery. The 8" guns were remarkably accurate, the rest were area fire for the most part. Kinda like the difference between ordinance delivered by A4's versus A6's. A4s couldn't hit their own ass. A6's could drop them in your back pocket. Kinda like C130s and Daisy Cutters. God, how I loved Daisy Cutters.

I am..........disturbed.

Concerning the difference between man and the jackass: some observers hold that there isn't any. But this wrongs the jackass. -Twain

.500 A-Square. It was a beast, but honestly wasn't as bad as the .460 Wby due to the heft and beefy stock design.

Rifle 50BMG AR50 790 Gr Ball Rounds
Hand Gun S&W 500 500 Gr HP
Black Powder 10 Ga. Blunderbuss 80 Gr 2FF with a Patched .760 ball .788 Bore
When I weighed in at 120 Lbs 80 Gr with (2) .760 Balls in a Stake Shoot with Moccasins on. It would slid me back a full step Fun as HE!!.
25 years later at over 200 Lbs it just moves my upper and no foot movement.

Yeah, those were 425gr LFN over a stiff load of H-110. They chronographed at 1220fps.
Arthritis in my hands caused me to sell the 480 and my Freedom Arms 454. I miss both of them but my hands don’t.

As for biggest/hardest recoiling a CZ 458WM, Ruger Magnum M-77 in 416 Rigby and a 425 Express, didn’t compare to a Marlin 1895 in 50 Alaskan with 570gr cast bullets. That thing stunned my shoulder so bad I couldn’t rack the action. It came unlocked on every shot too, makes me think it’s a bit too much for the platform.
