WTF? That's awesome.....
I have never, ever had grouse of any species let me get less than 20 or so feet away. People tell me all the time they kill spruce and blues with rocks and sticks (and I have tried with the ones that let me get somewhat close) but I have never had any let me get close enough, let alone on my handlebars.
Good shït.

Yep, awesome.
Working in the woods in NorCal, we would have them sit in a branch close by and watch the rocks and sticks we threw fly by their head, then turn and look right back at us.
Coworker had one blocking the road he didn't want to hit. Stopped, basically said he scooted it to the side of the road, drove past, stopped, scooted it back.
But, when I hunt them they never seem to act that way!

I've got mountain quail coming to my bird feeding station here in western Oregon.
I can walk up within abut 6 feet of them when throwing out bird seed.
Pretty exciting for this old retired guy!

That is an amazing photograph. We get some pretty close birds up in the BWCA where effectively no hunting occurs. But I've never been able to get THAT close to any!
Yep.
