I recently purchased a Glock G26 gen 4 handgun for every day carry here in Michigan.
I have shot it quite a bit lately to get accustomed to it and I have come to hate the long pre travel and weight of the trigger. It really effects the accuracy, especially on the 1st shot
any suggestions to take up that pre-travel and at least lighten it up a little?
thanks

Once you get used to it, you automatically take up the slack in the trigger. I've never had a problem with the stock trigger. It's a carry gun, not a target one.

The pre travel you refer to is the pistol drawing the striker back. It's just the way Glocks work and you'll never get it to perform like a tuned 1911 trigger, You can reduce the trigger weight a little with an aftermarket spring kit. I used to carry a cocked and locked 1911 (with an excellent trigger pull) but now I have gotten used to a Glock (no saftey to futz with). I actually think the Glock is faster and safer. It's not a target gun.

I’ve found better results with Glock triggers by lessening the overtravel and leaving the “pre-travel “ as is

If you have not yet, look into the 25 cent glock mods. A quick polish makes a big difference.
I would not buy something that runs on any kind of primer given the possibility of primer shortages and even regulations. In fact, why not buy a flintlock? Really. Rocks aren't going away anytime soon.

The key to striker type triggers is to not try to slowly creep up against the wall & then get / expect a SA, glass crisp break.....................pull the trigger straight through.
But a lighter connector & a heavier (competition) trigger spring on a Glock does make things better.
Also ditch the grooved trigger on a G26/27 (or a 19) & get a smooth version of your choosing.
Zev Tech's V4 & The Glockstore's Double Diamond 3.5lb connectors are the best I've used.

Useful info right there.
The best Glock trigger I have encountered is my old G21 Set at 4.5 from the factory. That and I smeared Jigger Job on all the moving parts.

Glock claims an OEM 5.5 pound trigger but that’s more like the dead minimum. Unmodified Gen 2-5’s will scale about 6.5 and go up from there. I picked up a hard-used old G22-2 awhile back which scaled 7+ with a long second stage; you’d have thought it was the NY trigger. No, just a perfect storm of contrary OEM parts on a pistol that was designed to keep puppy cops & soldiers from shooting each other in the ass.
I’ve had a polished 4.5 pound OEM connector in my parts box for years. I’d try it in various Glocks and take it back out because I personally don’t want a sub 4 pound trigger on a carry gun that lacks a thumb or grip safety. The polished 4.5 connector was perfect in this pistol producing just over 4 pounds on the tip of the trigger and 5 with the scale set dead center on the trigger shoe. It cleaned the second stage up nicely too, making the pistol much easier to hit with at distance. Polishing the linkage contact surfaces helps a bit too.
I’ll have to try a Double Diamond connector. I never cared for the Ghost because it made the second stage mushy and unpredictable,
