....if there is a better Western writer, you would have to prove it to me. His focus on characters during the period of 1930 - 1950s certainly separates him from most Western writers, but the quality of his product is simply outstanding. Within the last few years I've read Hi-Lo Country, Bluefeather Fellini, Bobby Jack Smith You Dirty Coward and a few others. I'm currently reading Rounders, The Great Wedding and Orange County Cowboys. Simply outstanding.
