I think John brought it up a while back.

I've looked high, and low. No picnics?

Pork shoulders cured like a ham. Green uncured pork shoulders make delicious barbeque.

Hard not to like any cured pork product. Don’t remember seeing any of these lately. OTOH, we have plenty of chicken lip sausage and other New-Age “meats” to choose from....

Coincidentally the wife and I were telling the kids about picnic hams when we were kids for Easter. None of the spiral ham stuff back in the 70's.

We got some of them jelly glasses around here somewhere. Haven't seenem in a few decades though. Remember the grandparents using them for breakfast juice glasses.

spirals seem to dry out real easy. although one of the best hams i remember having was a really expensive spiral from some fancy mail order place. somebody bought it for my wife for a present and it was outstanding. forget the name but it was excellent.

That has been my experience as well. I have never, or will ever buy one for that reason.

Spirals are best eaten cold. They’re cooked when you buy them and make outstanding sandwich meat for cheap when they go on sale after the holidays. Just don’t put t them in the oven and they won’t dry out.

For just eating at Sunday dinner a while or half butt is tough to beat cooked in a can of Coke and pulled apart with a big fork. Don’t forget the beans a few days later.

Go to Menards and get the Blackburn jams, jellies, and preserves. They come in these neat glass jars with a handle that are a little mug. (Product is great as well.)
