Went to the LGS and they had a new Remington 700 BDL 243 on display $865. They said it was the last one they had. Probably the last one anywhere around. I went ahead and bought it. Funny there it no way I would have bought it or paid that much for it a year ago. Sometimes you don’t know what you got til it’s gone. I think there is a thread going around here asking if the Remingtons are going to follow the path of the pre-64 Winchester’s. Can’t see how anyone doesn’t own at least one Remington 700 BDL and a 870 Wingmaster. Only a few months ago you could buy 742 or 760 for under $400. Not anymore.

I bought a Remington Model Four that was basically brand new for a steal. It is a beautiful rifle, if the prices keep going up I may have to sell it and buy a few other rifles that aren't worth as much but will still get the job done.

A few months ago I found a new BDL Classic Deluxe in .30-06 and one in .270 for sale at a dealer in Pennsylvania. I bought them both. Overpaid a little, but glad I got them when I could.

I like 700’s. I’ve had many, all accurate, never had a bolt fall off. I have my eye on another to give to a friend who gave my boy a job, moved him up, got him a big raise.

First centerfire I bought was a 243 BDL. Been a good rifle. Have a classic in 35 Whelen and it has been good. Bought my son a little used 80s model 30-06 BDL for his first rifle. He downs everything he shoots at. All 3 of them shoot well.

If it’s new, that is a good price, even before the current gouging started.

My LGS just took in a nice BDL with a Redfield Widefield scope in 270 Win. I could get a price iof anyone is interested. The first centerfire I shot as a kid was an M700 BDL in 222 Remington.
