does anyone know why companies chose to spin the 280 1;10? i would assume thats pretty much good for 150 gr. max? I have always wondered myself to be honest. it's merely informational to me I dont plan on shooting anything heavier than 150s anyway..I havea 7 mag for 160s I just wonder why a company that puts 9.5's on a 7 mag and 7-08 would put a 10 on a 280? Seems like it'd cost more to change the barrels out just to make them less versatile. Not just one company either. my New Model 70 FWT is 1: 10 That's EXACTLY what I was thinking of! Love me some Winchester, but that made no sense though. Remington twisted their 280s at 1;10 too i think

I’ve never checked my M725 280 Rem. Doesn’t much matter since I don’t use it for heavies.

My brother has a 1:8 Shaw .280AI barrel we screwed on his Savage. Does well with 140s to 168s.

My Rem 700 has a 22” Pacnor barrel with a 1-9” twist and it shoots 160’s great. I mainly use 140’s but the 160’s stabilize perfectly.

Still trying to decide 22, or 24 inches. Most likely, 24. Split the diff at 23". #Cantdecide A couple of years ago I rebarreled three rifles to 6.5CM, .257 Ackley and 7x64. I went 23 inch barrels in all of them just to be a bit different. I like 22 inch and my gunsmith likes 24 inch but was happy to go the 23".
