I've got a mind to acquire a .270 Featherweight in pre-64. Ive been looking for about a month, figured it wouldn't be that hard to find one. I have seen very few of them for sale. Most seem to be .30-06, some 243 and a few 308's. Are the .270's that hard to find? If so, why?

They’re out there, but in nice, original condition they command a premium. I buy them whenever I see one. Much of the popularity of a 270 Fwt. has to be attributed to the writings of Jack O’Connor. Also, a classic caliber and a classic platform.

A .270 Featherweight is on my list too. Preferably a '55 like my '06.

There have been a couple decent ones on Gunbroker, I'd expect to pay around $1200 for a nice shooter grade.

One reason they demand a premium as well. Good luck in your search. When I was looking for one, it took me almost a year. Then I was offered 4 to pick from. I picked the one that shot the best and left the new in the box one alone. I could have bought that one for $1,700.00. The one I bought cost me $1,350.00, but it was worth it. Probably one of the best shooting 270's I've seen.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Just about my favorite rifle I own. It’s worth the search.
