Everytime I check back in on this forum I am reminded in 7 seconds why I don't post much here. Even when you have that dinosaur brain on ignore he can still ruin a thread, crazy that this is allowed to go on. Sad. Sorry OP, go with the hornet and enjoy the new rig.

My solution to scratch this exact itch was a Super 16 Contender barrel in .223. Has the Hornet and .22 WMR in it, but a lot more if I want. And it's not just another .223 bolt. Twist is 14-inch, though, so heavier than about 50 grains is likely to lose accuracy.

I love both calibers. I’d suggest a .223 over both simply due to rifle available, and ammo availability/cost. If that’s not an issue, it doesn’t get much cooler than a .22 hornet.

I bought a .22 Hornet to start tinkering with a couple months ago. Thinking of it as a "reloadable .22 WMR +P". A brick of primers, two pounds of powder, and 8 pounds of lead should easily get me 1,000 pulls on the trigger.
