The Gleissberg cycle. Drought in 2024, after the 1956 dry year.
What do you think?

I don't know about that, but here is what I do believe............I'll start off by saying that I do not buy into man made global warming, but in my part of the world the climate is changing. We are not having much in way of winter anymore, earlier springs, more tornadoes, and the fall weather is nothing like it once was. Summer seems to last into October, and the frosts are later in the fall, while often being later in the spring. We have been in a wet pattern here for the past several years.
I figure that things run in cycles, weather included, and we're certainly in one now.

I thought it was a ten year cycle.Lately though it doesn't seem to have any pattern. It has been years since we have had the daily thunderstorms in late summer. Some years, hardly any snow, some we get a few big dumps.

I'm not sure about cycles. As James Jr. said our spring frosts are later and harder and we get frosts later in the fall and not as hard. We don't start planting as early as we used to because of the later spring frosts.

As for what my dad said many times, there was always snow by deer hunting, and that was always the Saturday before Thanksgiving. He also said the snow was gone by March 5th. ( his dads birthday). This is likely what his dad told him on his birthday, Now days, there is very likely no snow till December and many times there is snow on March 5th. My dad grew up in almost the center of Wisconsin. Winter has been coming later the last 50 yrs. no doubt. I dont think it matters a whole lot though but it might be hard on the fawns and grouse.

I still have snow drifts on the ground and it snowed last night. It is expected the next few nights. It is usually mid April before I am snow free, but last year we had a blizzard in mid May and it dumped 15inches of snow. Living at 7650 feet might have some thing to do with it.
