I'm finishing up some project rifles, that includes scopes. One rifle has Bushnell Scopechief IV 4x32. Would a scope of that era (early '70s ?) have coated lenses? Another rifle an imported Sweidsh sporter has a Weaver K-4 60B, same question.
When did Bushnell/ B &L bring out the 3000 series. I have a Another Scopechief 3x9x40 labeled Bausch & Lomb. By finding out when the replacement model came out, that will give a time frame.

I believe that the 3000 series came out in the late 80's, perhaps very early 90's.

If I recall correctly, the Scopechief IVs were multi-coated, and the 60Bs were single-coated.
If I have time tomorrow will check my collection of GUN DIGESTS to see when the 3000 series appeared.

Thanks, as for the 3000, it was just a question if the B & L Scopechief was worth a rebuild.. Well past warranty.

I don't think they will rebuild those but will offer a replacement. I like the Scopechief 4x32 and have a couple which I use. They are a reasonably good looking scope too. I wish they did not have the rubber ring on the eyepiece because there are only two kinds; those which have fallen off and those which have not fallen off yet. GD

That 4x32 Scopechief IV was just such a return. I guess if you guys say they are OK scopes, I'll keep it on the canoe rifle. I used it as spare after the Weaver K4 didn't take kindly to a river bottom. It might be worth while finding another spare. ,though.
There is a guy in Alberta that repairs old scopes, mostly Weavers, but also Japanese Bushnells.

I checked into such a service a few years back, and it was way more than the cost of a NIB 4X scope and shipping with some left over for time and aggravation. Don't know what it would cost now

I didn't know he did Bushnells. I have had Weavers repaired and was happy with the results. GD
