Hi, apologies if this is a repetitive question (couldn't see it posted anywhere). I've been offered a secondhand Ziess Terra at about half it's retail price. Any opinions on these scopes? I know Ziess make good optics, but Terra isn't one of their high end models. It's in a magnification I like for where I hunt, mainly forests (2-7x) Thanks.

Had that scope and moved it around a couple different bolt guns and never had issues with it. I let it go with the gun it was mounted on last fall. I believe I paid $300 after a $50 rebate 6-7 years ago. Looks like they sell around $300 now. If the price you’ve been offered is in the $150 range, I’d say it’s a really good scope for that money.

I'd buy one for $150, but reminds me of looking through a tunnel. Glass is clear, but definitely a step down from the older Conquest line.
Always remember that you are unique, just like everyone else.

I have 2 of the 3x9x42.......have killed deer with them.
They dont get the love the rest of the zeiss family gets.....if it weren't for the interweb I wouldnt realize how much I should be embarrassed to own one.
Both of mine came in boxes marked "made in japan"

My Opinion - if Mfg in Japan and the price was right, I'd run one. Seems to me the higher powered Terra probably show the lower quality glass more than a lower powered model that does not amplify any issues. Just a guess.
That said - if you find a comparable priced Bushnell or Bausch & Lomb 2-7x, or Leupold, you will likely have nothing to complain about. The Burris Fullfield with a 3P4 makes an excellent scope for hunting - great reticle, and glass. Hint....
I've run many Freedom and VX-1 for squirrels on 22s, no issues or complaints.
