I have a 1955 12 gauge that has a plain steel blued trigger and not a gold one. Is this pretty common? I dont believe I've ever seen a Superposed without a gold trigger. Thoughts? Thank you, Ed

I do not know when the gold triggers became standard but I know that at least some of the pre WW2 superposed guns have steel triggers (I have one). I am not sure when they became standard. It may be that your gun had a few old parts included in its manufacture or was added in a repair.

I've had several that did not have gold triggers - two were the "upland" with straight stocks.

Thank you for your input "NE Hunter" and "Sasha and Abby". Any idea what year "all" Superposeds got gold triggers? Thanks again Ed

gold triggers were an option from the date the original superposed was introduced (or at least that is what the original catalogue says). they are extremely rare on pre-war guns. as a general rule, superposed shotguns produced after world war II had gold plated triggers. however Browning stayed with the steel trigger construction until they discovered that the plating didn't last very well, then changed to alloy which plated better
