I remember when they came out, the weight is excellent, but the barrel length restrictions killed it for me. I don't think i'd buy one if I knew I intended to break the barrel length restrictions, if there is a problem, will you be covered by the warranty, or SOL?
The Ultras are probably the most popular can for this kind of use, with good reason, yes they are more expensive, but as you know, cans are a lifetime purchase. Ultras are tough, light, have reasonable barrel length restrictions and the Gen 2s are even quieter than the originals. Also you might want to run the can on multiple rifles with different thread pitches, doesn't seem to be possible on the Jager, but it's no problem on Ultra CBs using different brakes.
Another option would be the Nomad Ti, a few ounces heavier and more expensive than the Jager, but also quieter, and rated for your intended use.
The EA Lux would be another option, 8.5 oz in direct thread configuration, but longer than the other options and rated for magnums down to 20".
