I wish every Tom Dick and Harry who will ever buy, own, borrow, inherit, or steal a Savage 99 buys one of these field guides. Aside from eliminating a lot of super-repetitive queries here and on FB, it would make Calhoun filthy stinkin' rich and he could then take us all out for ice cream.
Make a note that I'll take a copy, Rory. I'll second the ice cream proposal!

Okay... we're talking like 2 scoops of generic ice cream here, right? None of that gun control Ben & Jerry's crap?

I like the ice cream suggestion. To keep it in the Savage vein, we could go with Turkey Hill. They make a killer mint chocolate chip...

That ice cream place in Plymouth that had the maple walnut ice cream... oh, yum.. And yes.. everybody should buy one for each 1895, each 1899 and each 99 they own. Definitely good idea.

Make a note that I'll take a copy, Rory. If he is going to get filthy rich he must have a different publisher than I have. I would have to sell almost a million copies of the Collector's Guide to get a million bucks in royalties. My next royalty check is due by next Friday. I bet they forgot to send it again.
wyo1895 With Savage never say never. For a copy of my book on engraved Savage lever actions rifles send a check for $80 to; David Royal, p.o. box 1271, Pinedale, Wy., 82941. I will sign and inscribe the book for you. [email protected]

My next royalty check is due by next Friday. I bet they forgot to send it again. Definitely won't be getting filthy rich. But mine also won't be a reference guide you'll find on Amazon or in Barnes & Noble soon, because doing the "global distribution" thing through book dealers gives an immediate 50% of the book price to the dealer as profit and would remove pretty much all profit I made unless I bump the price up. Pretty much like they do to you. So I'll probably sell a limited number of books myself for you guys and to take to gun shows/etc, and then there will be an online store available to buy your own copies from for as long as you want. It won't be a printing run of X number of copies.. as long as folks keep ordering it, the books will keep being made. Once the book is available I'll pass that online store link around. Printed out a sample run on my printer last night.. 108 pages at the moment with all the models from 1895A to 99RMEF and date charts in it. Need to add checkering/engraving chapters, few other things at the end. It looked good. Have to clean up the photos to print brighter, shrinking them down has caused them to print really dark. Getting there, though.

I can sit and work at the computer for 16 hours a day with no problems...
But, boy... do I hate working with pictures. A few hours of that and my eyes start going out of focus... Good thing I never had the urge to be a graphics designer.
Coming along nicely. Having to rework the pictures for the smaller page format, but have all the dates, models by year and model information in. About 75% done with reworking the pictures, then add in a couple of short post chapters - would like to include barrel addresses, but think I'll skip that for the initial release. Just don't have a complete set of info. I don't usually pay too much attention to barrel addresses, but that 99T in 22HP on GB with a barrel from 20 years earlier shows how useful it can be.

I've worked with them.. some of them are very interesting people. Course, there are very interesting IT people also. I appreciate them more now. My eyes literally won't focus on anything more than 20 feet away. Time to get outside for a while.

I know how you feel. I spent all day yesterday and today checkering. Tiny wooden diamonds are imprinted on my eyeballs.

Got to burn a couple vacation days this month, so got a 4 day weekend starting tomorrow. I'll get to work on it and see if I can't get the rest of the models reformatted for it. Then I'll start finding miscellaneous pictures to fill up the blank spots.
This may not be too long of a process. i would be in for three , i'll give you the 3 consecutive numbers later ,, they are under 100 norm

Sent out first draft to a couple of victims volunteers who have offered to proofread it for typos and content. Still some work to do on it... but it's coming along! Got a 5 day weekend to add the few missing parts.

No.. until I get the proof copy in hand, I have no idea how much rework will be necessary on pictures/etc. So just trying to get to the point of being able to do that proof copy.
