these Browning BLR levers are a great rifle and accurate too. i own a 308,7mm-08,6.5 Creedmoor,7 mm Rem. mag ,300 Win.mag and a 30-06 takedown all shoot very well. the take down is my favorite lever its a S.S. with a blueish laminated stock and accurate too.

Some people are talented !

In more years than I care to recall..... I NEVER lost any detachable mag. I have 2 or 3 xtras for diff rifles

NEVER used them, still Brand New.

I've had 2 in years past. 358 W in the Pot Belly mag design & 243 W in flush model.
NO problems and accuracy was PLENTY good.

TO ADD - the 358 was lighter and a JOY to hunt in close 1/4s.

I've owned several over the past decades for a lefty not to many rifles that are as good as them.....

I've always wanted one as I believe they are very accurate and well made. A 243, 7mm-08 or 308 would make a great ranch rifle.

My first one was bought in 1981 with the protruding magazine, all steel, and chambered in .358. It was accurate despite not having a benchrest quality trigger but, with a little practice, very manageable. I hunted with that rifle off and on for years from here to the Rocky Mountains but, game was so scared of it they would not show themselves when I carried it. Bad juju. Only killed a few deer before I got mad at it and sold it in 2016. Within a few months I began to regret having done so but, life goes on. Well, last year I found a Lightweight Stainless Laminate Takedown also in .358 for sale so I bought it. This one seems slightly more accurate than the first and the T/D feature makes it so easy to clean. I won't sell this one, even if game is uncooperative.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I got some 243 loads put together last night and got a scope on her. Range time hopefully this weekend, depending on whether I’m turkey hunting.

I would like to own a takedown in 358 Winchester but has one in a solid frame. I think it was a 243 and JES rebored to 358 Winchester. It shoots quite well but haven/t had to work up a load. My older loads of 4064 or Vargetand 200 gr Remington bulk bullets works in my Savage99, and others as well. I don't want to change something that works that well in all the 358s. The deer in Misery don't care for them at all though. Be Well, RZ.

Had one (358). Disliked it. Sold it and bought a Savage 99 in .358. Happy now.

I have a .284W that is accurate as a bolt action once you "learn" the trigger. Also have a .308, both are steel frame straight stock versions made in the early '90s. I never thought of them as heavy, both weigh 8.0 lbs with scopes and ammo. When the day come that I can't carry around an 8 lb rifle, I'll quit hunting. I am 71 years old.

if you have a smith who can clean up the trigger (and not all can/will), then they can be great all around rifles.

I picked up a stainless/laminate/takedown .308 as a "backup" rifle for elk trips, but I think it's now my favorite.

I like mine, an early one in 358. It was cherry but I used it for several years anyway. The stock drop was way too low for a scope but I did it anyway.

I bought a BLR 81 in 308 last year and it became one of my favorites. Mine has the the pistol grip buttstock and aluminum receiver. It's a light and handy package. I was surprised how accurate it is, even with the skinny barrel and 6 lb. trigger. I read that Neil Jones will do a trigger job for about $120 + shipping but I haven't had it done.

My Lefty friend has one in 308, and it is a tack driver like no other lever gun I've shot. I'd say a .243 would be a sweet shooter. Also ....you stole it!
